Tony Sanneh established The Sanneh Foundation in 2003 to support community-based organizations and to assemble a supportive network within the community that provides positive environments for urban youth to become positive and productive adults. The Foundation currently focuses its efforts in the Minnesota area but is looking to expand its outreach. The Foundation’s goal is to be a unifying and innovative force in the community by leveraging existing community resources and opportunities and serving as a liaison among urban youth, families, schools and local non-profits. The Foundation supports established community-based organizations working to improving the quality of life in urban communities, but also operates and funds several of its own programs for underprivileged youth.
As the Foundation’s President and Executive Director, Tony is active in all major decisions concerning its programs and initiatives and continuously seeks new opportunities and partnerships. Through his volunteerism while playing professional soccer domestically and internationally, Tony knew he could carry over his on field success off the field and give back and become an integral part of the community not only where he was playing but where he grew up. Tony has a vision to attract, develop and retain urban youth in the Foundation’s programs and provide positive environments, regardless of their ability to pay and use the sport of soccer to connect with children and inspire them to make and achieve their goals.
Tony believes in giving all children the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed and with The Sanneh Foundation seeks to accomplish that goal through its programs, partnerships and events.
