Road to the World Cup


The Sanneh Foundation’s Soccer at Schools Road to the World Cup Initiative is a community-based education initiative designed to integrate soccer development with global citizenship. The program operates through a "PE Takeover" model, where Sanneh coaches lead PE classes for a series of days over the course of a week.

The curriculum centers on two primary pillars:

  • Soccer Skill-Building 

  • Global Citizenship

To ensure the program’s impact extends beyond the week-long residency, the initiative provides tangible resources to the host school and its students:

  • Equipment Donation: Each partner school receives a bag of soccer balls to support ongoing physical education.

  • Student Kits: Every participant is provided with a custom Sanneh cinch sack.

  • Continued Engagement: Students receive information regarding local summer sports camps and community programs throughout the Twin Cities to encourage long-term athletic participation.

The Sanneh Foundation’s Road to the World Cup Request for Proposals (RFP)

The Sanneh Foundation’s Road to the World Cup initiative offers elementary schools a high-energy, in-school soccer clinic designed to build excitement for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, while helping youth build soccer skills and learn about global citizenship. Selected schools will host our coaches for a series of “PE takeovers.” In addition to professional instruction of these classes, we are committed to leaving a lasting impact through equipment donation and student gear. 

The Sanneh Foundation is seeking partner schools that are eager to host our team for a day of soccer-based education, cultural connections, and community building. The idea is that we “take over” physical education courses, but we are open to different program delivery methods during the school day.

Eligibility

Educational Institutions/Districts serving K-6 students in the Twin Cities metro area.

Tony, as a Soccer Forward ambassador, aims to drive participation and access to soccer nationwide by offering schools and students the opportunity to take part in over seventy in-school soccer clinics. These clinics are designed to blend soccer skill-building with global citizenship as we lead soccer-based education and community building in Physical Education classes.

A free opportunity for schools and students to take part in an in-school soccer clinic designed to blend soccer skill-building with global citizenship.

When we visit, we lead soccer skill-building and global citizenship curriculum.

  • We will donate a bag of soccer balls to schools to ensure the play continues long after our coaches leave.

  • Every participating student will receive a custom Sanneh cinch sack to remember the experience.

  • These sacks include information on how students can register for future Sanneh programs, including our popular summer sports camps that will be taking place throughout the Twin Cities and within their home community.

A Keepsake for the Journey

What’s better than a day of soccer? Taking home a piece of history. Each student will receive an official sports card hand-signed by U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer Tony Sanneh to celebrate their time on the pitch with us.
